JUSTINE GILBERT, AUTHOR

Born in New York, USA. Lived in London, Rome, the Tuscan Hills and Florida. Currently living on the Kent coast beside the North Sea.

I am a member of the prestigious Crime Writers Association and my Tuscan murder mystery, Montecatini, was a Page Turner Awards 2024 Finalist.

I am a mother and grandmother; a dog lover; a traveller; an educationalist; an alumni of Leeds University, the Open University, and The Novelry.

My latest novel, The Anna Puzzle, published January 2026, has five stars. It is a dual era tale of love, betrayal and hope. Two spies, two murders, and one love story, set at the end of the Cold War and the beginning of the Russian invasion. Love is stronger than war.

Thank you to everyone who attended this event. It was a wonderful afternoon discussing my novel. So many thoughts and ideas!  And a request for a sequel. I said the sequel would be written when there was peace and freedom in Ukraine. We pray for it.

Such interesting questions and a spirited dual language debate.

Let's Talk 🙃

It's the Great Depression. The world is tilting towards war. In the White House, nothing is as it seems.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, the married president of the United States, has started a long and passionate affair with his cousin Daisy, and moves her into the West Wing.

Daisy is one of FDR's band of unconventional women.

A historical novel that mirrors current day issues.

What people who bought MONTECATINI say...

This was such a great read! I love a clever murder mystery and a gripping read. Well plotted with interesting characters and topics which are very relevant today. The author clearly knows Italy very well and the countryside is beautifully described. A proper page turner and highly recommend!

It was such a pleasure to be a guest at the Beany Library, Canterbury, and speak to the Ukrainian book club. (I’m at the back, wearing a t-shirt with Kyiv International as a logo, a Ukrainian overseas newspaper aimed at English speaking people.) You can see Lada and a member of the group wearing traditional Ukrainian designs.
